Yokosuka Christian Academy’s middle school program will provide students with a continued Christ-centered education during an important stage of academic, personal, and spiritual growth. Building on the foundations established in elementary school, students will deepen their knowledge and understanding across subject areas while developing a biblical perspective on the world around them. Learning will take place in an English-language environment that emphasizes Christian principles, academic quality, and meaningful relationships.

Middle school will be taught in a grade 6–8 multi-level classroom, particularly during the school’s early years. This model allows students at different stages to learn together, benefit from one another’s strengths, and take increasing responsibility for their learning. Instruction in subjects such as mathematics and language arts will be organized according to students’ academic levels, while other subjects may provide opportunities for collaborative, multi-age learning. Technology will become more present in the classroom but will not be the main medium of education.

Our Method of Teaching

Reverence

We revere God as our creator and the source of all truth and wisdom. We remember to put Him first in all areas of life.

Unless the Lord builds the house,
  the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

Rest

We value rest by balancing hard work with times of play. We create boundaries that prioritize rest over results.

In vain you rise early
  and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves. (Psalm 127:2)

Realize Identity in Christ

We help each child realize how valuable they are in Christ.

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him. (Psalm 127:3)

Resilience

We foster resilience by teaching good habits and encouraging perseverance through challenges to help them soar into adulthood.

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth. (Psalm 127:4)

Relationships

We instill strong character to build respectful, caring, and meaningful relationships with God and others.

Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court. (Psalm 127:5)
